Consent & Information Sharing

Control who sees your information

What Is Consent?

Consent means giving permission for Housing Match to share information with people you choose.

You are always in control. You decide who sees what.

You can change your mind. At any time, for any reason.

You can see who has access. We show you exactly who can see your information.

You can remove access. Stop sharing with anyone whenever you choose.

How Consent Works

1

Create Your Profile

Choose what information you would like to share.

2

Choose Who Can See It

Decide which people or organisations can access your information.

3

Apply for Housing

Apply for properties or support opportunities using your profile.

4

Change Anytime

Update your consent settings at any time through your Privacy Dashboard.

What Am I Agreeing To?

When you give consent, you're choosing to allow:

Housing providers to see information about what kind of housing you need

Support coordinators to help you with applications and housing search

Allied health professionals to see health information that helps find suitable housing

Family members or guardians to help you search for housing

Housing Match to use matching tools and artificial intelligence to find suitable options

AI Compatibility Assessments

Housing Match may use automated tools and artificial intelligence to help find suitable housing and support.

The system may review:

  • Information in your profile
  • Documents you upload
  • Your housing preferences
  • Your support needs

Important: These tools help suggest possible matches but do not make decisions for you. You always remain in control of all final decisions.

Housing Match will never allow artificial intelligence to make decisions on your behalf.

Final decisions about housing, support and information sharing are always made by people.

Can I Change My Mind?

You can change your mind at any time. You can:

  • ✓ Withdraw consent to share
  • ✓ Remove document access
  • ✓ Stop sharing with specific people
  • ✓ Change who can see your profile

Consent Records

Housing Match records when:

  • Consent is updated (date and time)
  • Consent is withdrawn (date and time)
  • Who made the change (your account)

This creates an audit trail and helps protect you. You can see your full consent history in your Privacy Dashboard at any time.

What Happens If I Withdraw Consent?

You can withdraw consent at any time. When you do:

  • Future sharing of your information will stop immediately
  • People and organisations will no longer be able to view your information
  • Some Housing Match features may no longer work
  • Some existing legal obligations may still apply where required by law

You remain in control. You can withdraw consent or re-grant it whenever you choose.

Hospital and Health Service Referrals

Hospitals, health services and allied health providers may share information with Housing Match where consent has been provided.

Information may be used to:

  • Identify suitable housing options
  • Find appropriate support services
  • Plan the transition to community housing

You always remain in control. You can update your consent settings at any time through your Privacy Dashboard.

Authority to Provide Consent

If you are providing consent on behalf of another person, you must have the appropriate legal authority to do so.

This includes:

  • Guardian or legal guardian
  • Nominee (under a legal guardianship order)
  • Administrator (appointed by a court)
  • Enduring Guardian (under a power of attorney)
  • Authorised Representative (with documented authority)

We may ask for evidence of your authority to provide or manage consent on behalf of someone else.

Participants Under 18 Years of Age

Where a participant is under 18 years of age, consent must be provided by a parent, guardian or other authorised representative where required by law.

Parents and guardians can manage consent settings and make decisions about information sharing on behalf of the young person, in accordance with their legal rights and responsibilities.

Help With Giving Consent

If you need help making decisions about consent, a guardian, nominee, administrator, or other authorised representative can:

  • Help you understand your options
  • Assist you with making choices about sharing
  • Manage your consent settings with legal authority

We will always follow legal requirements for authority and decision-making support.
