You can discuss your preference for female support staff with a SIL provider when exploring housing options through Housing Match.

Providers will generally consider participant preferences where possible; however, whether this can be accommodated depends on your individual support needs, staffing availability, service requirements and the provider's operational capacity.

Housing Match does not determine staffing arrangements or guarantee that requests for specific support workers or staff genders can be accommodated.

How to communicate your preference

If having female support staff is important to you, you should:

Include your preference in your Housing Match profile where appropriate.

Discuss your requirements with your Support Coordinator, Recovery Coach, family member or other support professional.

Mention your preference when submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) or during conversations with the provider.

Speak with the provider during the assessment process so they understand your individual circumstances and support needs.

Confirm any agreed staffing arrangements before accepting a placement. Important

Requests for female support staff may be considered for reasons such as personal care, cultural or religious preferences, privacy, trauma-informed support, or personal safety.

The final decision regarding staffing arrangements is made by the SIL provider based on the participant's needs, service agreements, workforce availability and organisational policies.

Housing Match helps participants connect with housing and support providers but does not make decisions about staffing, rostering or service delivery.
